Bosc Pear

Taste: Bosc pears have a sweet, vanilla taste and a yellow-white flesh. The taste is almost buttery, and Bosc pears are crisper than other pears.

When to Find Bosc: One of the later ripening pears, look for them in the fall. We have Bosc pears on our stands at the end of September.

Best Uses for Bosc: As a firmer than average pear, Bosc is great for cooking into pies or crisps, or simply baking with cinnamon and other holiday spices. When serving fresh, remove the tough skin to fully appreciate its buttery, smooth texture.

How to Store Bosc:  Bosc pears keep best in a cool, dry place. The best place is your refrigerator. This variety of pears also freezes very well, and can keep in your freezer for a few months.
